The Unfair Advantage, by Ash Ali and Hasan Kubba

The authors are both millionaires thanks to their successful digital entrepreneurship. Ali created the startup Just Eat, which was an early version of Uber Eats. Kubba made his fortune through Search Engine Optimisation, ending up earning himself passive income and travelling the world. They’re both in turn self-congratulatory and transparently faux-humble as they push you to recognise and leverage your own ‘unfair advantage’ that everyone possesses. I only made it halfway through the book before putting it down in disgust at the clichéd language, complete lack of insight into the unsustainability of the disruptive start-up economy they espouse, and the blind support of capitalist systems. In the end, I suspect they are not changing the world, they’re just gaming it, at someone else’s cost, and urging you to do the same.
